Camp Summer SpreeCamp Summer Spree brings community members together to make a positive difference in children's lives. We provide a fun, nurturing, and educational environment, where kids who need an extra measure of support are guided and encouraged to realize their full potential and individual value.
HistoryThe future of our community is dependent upon the healthy development of our youth. With this in mind, David and Becky Lockman, with the help of many community volunteers, launched Camp Summer Spree in June, 2003 at their home on ten acres in Watkinsville, Georgia. This year's camp will operate from June 7 through July 2, 2004.
PhilosophyCamp Summer Spree will provide a summer camp experience for approximately 30 children ages 8-14 who struggle with the limitations of poverty and harmful effects of neglect and abuse. These are children whose feelings of frustration and hopelessness have sometimes led them to adverse behaviors. Community volunteers share their talents, time, and hearts serving as strong, positive role models to help children develop a sense of confidence and control over their lives. The Camp fosters an environment where children feel secure about exchanging thoughts and ideas with new friends and camp counselors. Through participation in educational, physical, and personal growth activities, Camp Summer Spree strives to fill the children's lives with laughter, peaceful experiences, and positive prospectives on life.
